Hail to the Chiefs - How I Officiated at a Wedding in the Presence of Two Presidents

Hail to the Chiefs - How I Officiated at a Wedding in the Presence of Two Presidents: "I recently officiated at a ceremony, where both Presidents Bush and their First Ladies were in attendance. They hardly ever attend private events, so this was very special for everyone who was in attendance. My wife, Liat, and I wondered if we would get to meet them or not. We ended up not only meeting them, but having some very pleasant one-on-one time with the forty-third president.

During the ceremony I recited the customary Seven Wedding Blessings in English, after which I chanted the sixty-seventh Psalm in Hebrew (in the tune specially reserved for Saturday nights), and recited it in English. I talked about how on Saturday evenings many Jews chant this Psalm, and how it contains many of the same themes and actual words found in the most ancient copy of scripture that archeologists have found in the Holy Land, the priestly blessing." ...

Memorial Day in America 2010 - Will we yet hold this torch up high?

Memorial Day in America 2010 - Will we yet hold this torch up high?: "While the conflicts of today are different than those of the past when we review the actions, the bravery and the very attitudes of those who struggled in the past we see that peculiar nobility, courage and bravery that has been the hallmark of American fighting men and women since the days of the Revolution.

Nothing is as clear as the knowledge that, to ignore the sacrifice of anyone who died under color of the American flag is a deep betrayal to the nation and all it has represented to a world that has noticed the torch of freedom burning in the dark night of global conflict and uncertainty."... Prophet, pundit or newsman - America's Confusion

Prophet, pundit or newsman - America's Confusion: "The humblest expositor of the scripture is a hundred times less likely to be heard than an economist, psychiatrist, politician and a thousand other experts in their respective fields. Isn’t it appropriate that God chooses dumbbells, farmers, fishermen and the general off scouring of the world to produce a message that for some will determine their entire future destiny?

No wonder the Apostle Paul anointed in God’s Spirit was forced to say “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” (1Cor 1:26, 27)" ... Newton's Third Law and the Death of Wisdom - Secularisms Sin is No Sin

Newton's Third Law and the Death of Wisdom - Secularisms Sin is No Sin: "Some call it karma while others use the more folksy phrase “what goes around, comes around” but by any other name it is still best summarized by the words of the Apostle Paul who said “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Gal 6:7)

The results of ignoring the laws of reciprocation are evident all around us but perhaps in our hurry up world no one has the time or the inclination to give it any serious thought. The Bible warns that ignoring the simple rule of sowing and reaping will be part and parcel of the undoing of any generation but especially the last generation. The X generation may seem at home in an omega world where life is fast and cheap but the worst aspect of the rule of sowing and reaping is that if repeatedly ignored it destroys the growing field; that field can be a person, a community, a nation or ultimately the entire world."

American Politicians Winning Hearts and Minds while Losing Souls

American Politicians Winning Hearts and Minds while Losing Souls: "It is no secret that one of the most powerful tools in public speaking is humor. No matter how glum the subject matter if the speaker can get the audience laughing at some anecdotal story, joke or wisecrack the crowd relaxes and the rest is a piece of cake. Hillary Clinton is a seasoned speaker who craftily used the humor factor on the Jay Leno Show Thursday evening April 3, 2008.

As Hillary took the stage on the Leno show which was taped in Burbank California Kevin Eubanks cranked his band up to play the theme from the famed “Rocky” movies. Touting her as the underdog who can still shape up to knock em all dead it started the segment off on a light note. Hillary raised the level of hilarity by saying “It is so great to be here, I was so worried I wasn't going to make it. I was pinned down by sniper fire'"

The Egg Is Empty!

The Egg Is Empty!: "My kids love a good Easter egg hunt. And, I’ll admit, I love to give them one. I get such joy out of stuffing the eggs, hiding them, then standing by (and maybe video-taping) as my kids go traipsing through the house, searching for the eggs with their initials on them (I’ve got to make it fair by giving them each the same number of eggs to find!). It’s especially fun to see one of them get so close to an egg but not quite see it. Sometimes I even have to play the “hot and cold” game if they grow frustrated.

Once all of the eggs are finally found, the kids pile them up on the table for the best part of all: opening them! After all, who wants to sit and look at a basket full of plastic eggs? It’s the inside that counts, right? Most of the eggs are filled with candy, a bit of change or, their favorite, dollar bills."

The Christian’s Secret

The Christian’s Secret: "The book and dvd “The Secret” has become popular with people I work with lately. I viewed the dvd and was disappointed to find out that it really is no secret. I’ve been hearing this stuff most of my life. Maybe it is because I was raised as a Christian.

Yes, there is certainly truth to it. There are “spiritual” laws in place in the universe, just like there are physical laws such as gravity. I like to call them Laws of Faith. “The Secret” calls them Laws of Attraction. It has to do with positive thinking and belief in something good happening. Norman Vincent Peale wrote extensively on the subject years ago. It was called the Power of Positive Thinking. The opposite also works. I guess you could call it the power of negative thinking."

The Unpardonable Sin

The Unpardonable Sin: "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation' - because they said, 'He has an unclean spirit.' (Mark 3:28-30)

'Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.' (Matthew 12:31-32)"

Through Death Into Light

Through Death Into Light: "This is a true story of beings and energies, and the passage after death into greater light. Some of it is metaphor, but the overall principles of ascendance are not. The character of the ancient one has a place in the hierarchy of light, and the blessings offered and help given to the departed are very real." ... The Fascination With Celebrity: A Spiritual View

The Fascination With Celebrity: A Spiritual View: "Our daily lives are filled with multiple choices that determine what we do.

We could choose to spend our time learning about the advances that science has made in discerning what is happening with our oceans and glaciers as a result of global warming; or in the prediction of weather patterns; or in the discovery of genetic coding for a variety of diseases; or in the expanding view of space that lies beyond our own galaxy. Spiritual Awakening: The Opening Of The Way

Spiritual Awakening: The Opening Of The Way: "The arrival of a new level of spiritual awareness can be as gentle as a slight breeze, in fact, almost beneath the level of our noticing. It can come as a perception of what is not, rather than what is. For example, a pain in the heart that has been there for a long time can suddenly feel like it is off in the distance. Or a sense of anxiety that has traveled with us for a long time can suddenly be missing. The absence of what has been can be a signal, as much as anything else, that a new energy has entered the picture that is creating changed inner conditions, and this can be true even though its source is unknown and even though nothing special may have happened to bring it about. When Our Prayers Go Unanswered

When Our Prayers Go Unanswered: "I don’t think there has ever been a group of people who were more disappointed than the eleven apostles who watched Jesus Christ die on a cross on Cavalry. These eleven men had been with him for three years.

They had staked their whole lives on Him. They had forsaken homes and jobs and families and invested their whole lives in his promises and plan and there they were, standing on that windswept hill outside Jerusalem, watching the man they loved and believed in... die a torturous, horribly violent death.

Can you imagine the prayers these disciples prayed? For hours. “God... please...don’t let him die!!”" ... (Click on title link above to read entire article.) ...

1948: Israel Fulfills Bible Prophecies

1948: Israel Fulfills Bible Prophecies: "Prior to 1948, Israel last existed as an independent nation in 606 B.C. when the first captives of Israel were taken by Nebuchadnezzar. The destruction of Israel at the hands of the Babylonians was completed in 587 B.C. with the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. For 70 biblical years (approximately 69 years on the Gregorian calendar), the Jewish people were held as captives in Babylon. In 537 B.C., the Persian King Cyrus conquered Babylon and issued a decree for the Jews to return to their land and rebuild the Temple. It was during the Babylonian captivity and this return to Israel that Ezekiel appeared as a prophet and provided the following information on the future existence of Israel as an independent nation:" ... Simple Ways To Share Christ With Children

Simple Ways To Share Christ With Children: "As Christian parents, one of the most important duties that we have is to teach our children about the Lord. This is an awesome responsibility. It can also seem like an overwhelming responsibility.
